Dr. NAA Represents UCC at ARVO 2025 with Groundbreaking Research on Retinal Sensitivity to Colour and Luminance Contrast
Dr Naa Adjeley Addo, a staff of Department of Vision Science SOVS, currently undertaking her PhD at the Hong Kong PolyU presented a poster at the recently held ARVO in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
The poster titled "Investigating Retinal Responses to Colour and Luminance Contrast in Defocus Detection using the Pattern Electroretinogram (PERG)" assessed human retinal responses to stimuli of different colour and luminance contrast under defocus conditions. Her preliminary results showed that the retina was more sensitive to differences in colour and luminance contrast at low spatial frequencies compared to high spatial frequency.
The event was attended by over 8,000 vision science researchers from across the globe. She described her experience as enriching and inspiring.
The opportunity to be exposed to ground-breaking innovative ideas and research in vision science has fueled her enthusiasm and encouraged her to push beyond boundaries and contribute meaningfully to the field. Dr Naa Adjeley Addo looks forward to applying all that she has learnt as she continue her investigations into colour vision and myopia development.
